Flag Design, Awareness Campaign

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything” — George Bernard Shaw

In response to COVID-19, the Dublin City Council partnered with NCAD Bureau+ to undertake an initiative that captured the essence of the transformative changes of this pandemic. Tasked in creating a suite of flags to be displayed alongside the Liffey River, the aim was to capture the spirit of resilience and unity.

The design of my flag revolves around the concept of social circles and bubbles, symbolizing the importance of adhering to social distancing measures. The flag serves as a poignant reminder to maintain physical distance and practice proper hand hygiene to curb the spread of the virus. Additionally, the inclusion of a small orange circle prompts individuals to prioritize ones mental well-being during these challenging times. While the color palette drew inspiration from the COVID-19 signage in Ireland, the infusion of warmer tones such as yellow and orange aims to create a more approchable visual.
