"How can our city be a home for thriving people, in a thriving place, while respecting the wellbeing of all people, and the health of the whole planet?"

The Night Drive is a frame-by-frame animation that takes its audience on a journey, shedding light on the intricate dynamics of global trade through the perspective of a child. It serves as a thought-provoking call for cities to confront their challenging and inescapable questions.

Crafted in response to the "Ambitious Cities" brief by the RSA Student Design Awards, this frame-by-frame animated journey explores how the impacts of globalisation intimately touch the lives of individuals and societies around the world.
The hand-rendered aesthetic centres the storytelling on the innately human aspects of global trade. By following diverse characters across varied settings, audiences from all backgrounds find personal connectivity. However, it is the perspective of a child that facilitates pure, unfiltered observation - inviting viewers to perceive modern cities' complex trade networks through a child's wide-eyed wonder. Ideally, this point-of-view prompts deeper empathy for how one city's commercial ambitions can profoundly ripple worldwide.

Ultimately, "The Night Drive" becomes a poetic yet approachable inquiry into the intricacies of global economic interdependence. Through evocative visuals and a humanistic point-of-view, it encourages dialogue and contemplation about how we as individuals and cities alike are shaped by the currents of worldwide trade.
